Today is a bittersweet day. We will soon be saying goodbye to the original Vanderhouse, our first home together. We have built so many memories in this house. All you have to do is scroll back a few pages on this blog to see all of the projects we've done, the friends we've hosted and the fun we've had while living here.
Deciding to move was not easy. Denny recently started a new job that is about an hour away through rush hour traffic. The drive is very stressful for both of us, and we needed a place closer to his new work. With a baby on the way, we were also ready for some new features and conveniences in our home. Old homes are amazing, and I will be sad to leave ours, but they're not always the best environment for raising a child. Not to mention that our time and ability to do DIY projects and maintenance will be severely decreased once the baby comes. We needed a new house that was move in ready, and we needed it before the baby is due in July.
I'm happy to report that we have found the perfect place and our offer was accepted! We are very pleased with our new digs and will no doubt be posting a home tour as soon as we're able. But for now, it's time to look back on how far we've come in our current home and to pay homage to the little house on Classen, our first Vanderhouse.
The following photos are a side by side comparison of the listing photos from when we bought the house (on the left) and the listing photos from our current listing. Sorry they're so tiny. The original photos were saved on a phone. It's still fun to see the side by side comparison and all of the little things we've changed and updated through the years.
